Free AI skin analysis
A selfie is all it takes. You see your skin type and get a matching routine. Two minutes, free, no sign-up. For a good result: no makeup, in daylight, don't smile.
What is our AI skin analysis?
Our AI skin analysis evaluates a selfie and measures visible features of your facial skin: lines, pores, redness, pigment spots, blemishes and the evenness of your skin tone. From this, it creates a skincare routine with one product per step, for morning and for evening.
Behind it is not a filter but specialized software. It first detects the face, separates skin pixels from everything else, divides the area into zones such as forehead, cheeks and eye area, and then assesses each feature with its own model. According to the developer, these models were trained on several million skin images, and the assessment criteria come from dermatologists and skin specialists.
The analysis is free, takes two minutes and requires no sign-up. You get your result immediately on this page and also by email. Please note, however, that the analysis cannot replace a medical examination.
How the analysis works
You start on this page. If you like, the app first shows you a short video explaining the process. Then you take a single photo. The camera checks light, distance and alignment in real time and tells you what to change before it takes the picture. That is why the result is more useful than with any random phone photo.
The analysis takes around two minutes. Afterwards you see your scores for each characteristic and your skin type, plus a routine with one product per care step. These are recommendations that match your skin type and the measured characteristics, and you can add each product to your cart directly from the result.
Your result is also sent to your email address so you can read it at your leisure.
What the analysis measures on your skin
Eleven features. Each gets a score from 1 to 100, the higher the better, plus a rating from very good to needs attention. The scores are not grades for you but indications of where a routine should start: a score that needs attention for pores leads to a different cleanser, one for pigmentation to a different serum.
- Lines. Wrinkles and fine lines, especially on the forehead and at the corners of the mouth.
- Dark circles. Shadows under the eyes.
- Puffiness under the eyes. Visible bags on the lower lid.
- Pores. Size and visibility of the pores.
- Redness. Areas with increased blood flow.
- Pigmentation. Darker areas in the skin tone.
- Evenness. Differences between light and dark areas.
- Blemishes. Visible inflammation and clogged pores.
- Sagging. How firm the contour of the cheeks and chin looks.
- Skin type. Dry, normal, oily or combination.
- Skin age. An estimate based on the skin's appearance, not an age determination.
You won't find a score for moisture. A photo can't give a reliable reading on it: how the skin reflects light changes even with the lamp in the room. What you feel as tightness is more often a disturbed barrier than a lack of water anyway.
What the analysis can't do
The evaluation assesses what can be seen in the photo. Light, camera and make-up affect the result, hence the note on taking the picture. The software does not look beneath the surface, does not detect any disease and does not assess moles or skin changes.
What it also does not know is anything that is not in the picture: medication, pregnancy, allergies, intolerances, previous procedures, the products you are currently using. This is where routines fail most often, not in the choice of active ingredients.
The analysis gives you a first orientation on which care suits your skin, and it does not replace a medical examination. If you notice a change, a spot changes or something does not go away, see a dermatologist. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using new active ingredients.
What makes a good skin analysis
Measuring instead of guessing. The same skin gets different ratings from different experts, often even from the same expert on different days. A model applies the same standard to every image.
Guidance during capture. Light, distance and angle determine the result. That's why the camera checks the image before it takes the shot instead of accepting every photo.
Trained by experts. The assessment criteria come from dermatologists, biologists and skin specialists, and the methods are described in scientific journals. Still, the evaluation does not replace a medical examination.
Recommendations from a range someone is accountable for. An analysis is only as good as the products it chooses from. Ours come from five manufacturers of medical skincare that we work with every day in our own skincare studio in Cologne.
The analysis shows visible features of your facial skin and derives a routine from them, using the range we work with every day in our own skincare studio in Cologne. The analysis does not replace a medical examination.
Frequently asked questions about the AI skin analysis
What is an AI skin analysis?
An evaluation of your selfie: the software measures visible features of your facial skin, for example lines, pores, redness or pigment spots, and assigns you to a skin type. From this, a care routine is created with one product per care step for morning and evening.
Is the skin analysis really free?
Yes. You enter an email address, and we send your result there, also as a PDF. You don't have to buy anything, and no subscription is created.
What happens to my photo?
Your photo is processed for the analysis and deleted after seven days. It is kept that long so you can download your result as a PDF and we can look at it if there are any questions. The evaluation and email address are stored for one year.
How accurate is the result?
The software assesses what can be seen in the photo, and it does so for every image using the same standard. That is exactly its strength: the same skin gets different scores from different experts, often even from the same expert on different days. A model doesn't have this variation.
Each of the eleven features is rated by its own model, not by an overall score. The standards for this come from dermatologists, biologists and skin experts, and the methods are described in scientific journals.
There are limits: light, camera and make-up change the result, which is why the camera guides you through taking the photo. And the software only sees the surface. It does not detect any disease and does not assess moles or skin changes; that is a matter for a dermatologist.
Is it worth it compared to an in-person consultation?
As a first step, yes: you get an assessment and a routine in two minutes, at any time and without an appointment. If you have adjustment reactions, if it's about products you already use, or when several things come together, a conversation is better. Both together is the fastest way.
Which products does the analysis recommend?
Only products from our range: ZO Skin Health, iS Clinical, Colorescience, mesoestetic and Cyspera. No drugstore products and no brands we don't use ourselves in the studio. You can add every recommended product to your cart directly from the analysis.
Prefer it in person?
The analysis is the quick first step. If you want more, you have two options.
