The most important ingredients
This product protects against UVA, UVB and high-energy visible light (blue light). Some formulas also provide infrared-A protection via antioxidant actives.

Can Classic replace a foundation?
For light to medium coverage yes. A tinted, natural finish with full four-way protection. For full coverage, a dedicated foundation is needed, but for everyday use, Face Shield Classic is often enough.
Does Face Shield Classic also protect against blue light and infrared?
Yes. The EnviroScreen technology provides a four-way protection: UVA, UVB, blue light (HEV), and infrared radiation. This broader environmental protection is relevant for everyday digital life and for skin prone to hyperpigmentation.
How much SPF remains if I apply a foundation over it?
If you apply too little Face Shield and then layer foundation over it, you dilute the sun protection. The rule: apply sufficient Face Shield (full coverage, not just a light sheer layer), let it absorb briefly, then apply make-up. The SPF value is then maintained.
Why does the Classic version have a fresh finish and the Matte a mattifying one?
Classic has glycerin and bisabolol, which retain shine and moisture, making the skin look fresh — ideal for dry and normal skin. Matte has silicones and mattifying agents that absorb oil — ideal for oily and combination skin. The two formulas address opposite skin needs.
Does the universal tint suit all skin tones or does it look grey on darker skin?
The formula is developed for all skin tones and should not appear ashy. On very dark skin tones, test on a small area first — individual skin tones can react differently to universal tints. The Colorescience SPF portfolio contains specialist shades for dark skin tones (e.g. in the Sunforgettable range).
