Why we combine day and night care

Our combination of day and night. Brightening care in the morning and retinol in the evening work on the same thing at different times. Retinol belongs in the night because it makes the skin more sensitive to light, which is why the duo is split this way and no other.

  1. Brightening by day

Brightalive Skin Brightener brightens in the morning without retinol and works toward a more even tone. The gentle part for the day.

  2. Brightening at night

Retinol Skin Brightener combines retinol with brightening agents in the evening and speeds up cell renewal. Retinol is light-sensitive, which is why it is used in the evening.

  3. How to combine both

Brightalive in the morning, Retinol Skin Brightener in the evening, deliberately separated. This way you avoid overloading your skin with acids and vitamin C and get brightening around the clock.

Frequently asked questions

Why one product for the day and one for the night?

Because Brightalive gently brightens during the day without retinol, while Retinol Skin Brightener speeds up cell renewal with retinol in the evening. Retinol is light-sensitive and therefore belongs in the evening routine.

Can I apply both at the same time?

No, deliberately not. Together they would overload the skin with acids and active brighteners. Splitting them into morning and evening is exactly what makes the duo so effective and well tolerated.

Is the retinol product suitable for beginners?

Yes, with a little patience. To start, use Retinol Skin Brightener two to three times a week and increase as tolerated up to daily use. Retinol is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding, please seek advice beforehand.

Does the duo make a good gift?

Yes. Two coordinated products in a high-quality combination, with clear instructions. A considered gift for anyone who appreciates good skincare.

About the brand

ZO Skin Health was developed by Dr. Zein Obagi - one of the world's most renowned dermatologists, with over 35 years of research in Beverly Hills. His principle: the skin is not “repaired” from the outside; instead, the cells themselves are activated. Because collagen, elastin and cell renewal decline with age, ZO products work in a targeted way across different skin layers - as system skincare following established treatment protocols, not as a single product.

How to use

How to use the set

The list below is also the order of application. Stick to it, it is part of how the set works.

It follows the texture, from the lightest to the richest. Light formulas with smaller molecules absorb first; rich textures go on top and would otherwise shield them.

Behind it is always the same pattern. First the preparation: cleansing, exfoliating, toning. Then the active ingredients in the order given. In the morning, sun protection comes last; in the evening, it is left out.

Morning

  1. Brightalive Skin Brightener: one to two pumps onto face and neck.

Always apply sun protection during the day, it is essential with pigment spots.

Evening

  1. Retinol Skin Brightener: a small amount as the final step. Retinol is sensitive to light, so use it in the evening only.

Never use both at the same time. To start, use the evening retinol two to three times a week and increase as tolerated up to daily use.
