Frequently asked questions
Do I really need a toner in my routine?
If you have sensitive or dry skin: yes. After cleansing, the skin's pH value can be shifted. The Calming Toner balances it and soothes, so that subsequent serums are absorbed better and irritate less.
For normal to oily skin, the Complexion Renewal Pads are the better second step instead.
The difference between toner and essence - do I need both?
A toner balances the pH value and soothes. An essence additionally provides moisture. For dry, sensitive skin the Calming Toner is already valuable on its own, because it balances the pH shift after cleansing, so that serums and creams are absorbed better.
Essence is optional - you can skip it if budget is tight. The toner is a must for irritated skin.
Can I use the toner for damp application?
Yes, that is actually ideal. Spray the toner onto a cotton pad and hold it on the skin for 10 seconds. The moisture soaks the skin, and glycolic acid can gently exfoliate, so that the skin becomes smoother and redness recedes.
Alternatively: apply with your hands and put the cream straight on top, so that the moisture stays locked in. Don't let it dry out.
Is the toner also suitable for rosacea or couperose?
Yes, but with caution. Glycolic acid is mild and helps with redness when the skin is irritated. Start with 1-2 times a week, not daily. If the redness increases, reduce to once a week.
The most important thing: the toner balances the pH value, which helps skin prone to redness. The hyaluronic acid and panthenol soothe additionally. Ideally combined with a very mild serum (e.g. Daily Power Defense).
Can I overdo it with the toner and overload the skin?
No, the Calming Toner is more of a protective measure. Twice a day is normal and harmless. The glycolic acid in this product is low in concentration - much milder than the Complexion Renewal Pads.
Risk: only if you combine it with 3-4 other exfoliants daily. On its own or with a mild routine, it is an ideal pH balancer, not overloading.
