What does oleosome technology mean for retinol?
Oleosomes are microscopic spheres made of plant oils. The retinol sits encapsulated inside, only releasing when the skin's own enzymes break open the capsule. This means: no direct contact with the surface of the skin, gradual release throughout the night, and less initial irritation compared with conventional retinol.
How does Radical Night Repair differ from Wrinkle + Texture Repair?
Both contain retinol, but with different release mechanisms. Radical Night Repair uses oleosome technology: encapsulated retinol releases slowly, making it more suitable for sensitive skin and beginners. Wrinkle + Texture Repair uses conventional retinol with vitamin C and peptides for a broader anti-ageing effect — intended for those already experienced with retinol.
Is some peeling after use normal?
Yes. Mild flaking, redness, or dryness in the first 2 to 4 weeks are a normal retinol reaction (retinisation). The skin adapts to the accelerated cell turnover. Important: keep the skin-facing cycle — do not discontinue use, use a rich moisturiser (e.g. Recovery Crème), and avoid additional irritants such as acids or other retinol products during this phase.
Is Radical Night Repair safer than regular retinol because of the oleosome technology?
Yes and no. Oleosomes make the 1 % retinol dose more tolerable because the release is gradual. But: it is still 1 % retinol — a high concentration. "Safer" means less initial irritation, not a lower dose. Anyone who has not used retinol before should still start slowly: once a week, then increase gradually.
How do I incorporate Radical Night Repair into my routine?
Start: once a week, in the evening after cleanser and serum, before a rich moisturiser (e.g. Recovery or Hydrating Crème). After 2–4 weeks with no irritation: increase to twice a week, then gradually to every other evening. Always use SPF in the morning when using retinol.
