What do optical diffusers do in an eye cream?
Optical diffusers reflect light so that fine lines are immediately less visible — a cosmetic effect, not a biological one. Think of it like a soft-focus filter on a camera: the structure is still there, but appears softer. This effect works immediately and is complemented by peptides and retinol that improve the structure long-term.
Why is Intense Eye Crème the strongest ZO Skin Health eye product?
It combines three anti-ageing strategies: retinol accelerates cell renewal, peptides stimulate collagen and elastin, optical diffusers provide an immediate visual effect. Other ZO eye products use only one or two of these mechanisms — Intense Eye Crème uses all three simultaneously.
Is Intense Eye Crème safe if I am also using other retinol products?
Yes, but with strategy. You can use a retinol-free eye product in the morning (e.g. Growth Factor Eye Serum) and Intense Eye Crème in the evening. If you are also using retinol on the rest of your face, note that the total retinol load increases — begin carefully, pay attention to how your skin responds, and extend the intervals if you experience dryness or irritation.
How quickly do the optical diffusers take effect?
Immediately — within 1–2 minutes of application. They reflect light so that fine lines and puffiness under the eye appear reduced. The biological effects from retinol and peptides develop over 4–8 weeks.
Can I use Intense Eye Crème in the morning?
Not recommended. Retinol increases the skin's sensitivity to UV radiation, so morning application around the eyes (a particularly thin-skinned area) increases the risk of photodamage even when using SPF. Intense Eye Crème should be used in the evening only.
